Hello everyone, and welcome to the final update of my trip to Japan. The last topic is my trip to Tokyo, which I did on Wednesday. I will link to my Photobucket where you can find my Tokyo Album just after the report below, just like with my Kyoto report. As for other things, life is pretty simmer over here right now. I still have some cleaning to do and a small bit of packing, but most everything has been done to prepare for my trip home. All that's left is last-minute preparations tomorrow and Tuesday, and hopefully everything will work out fine. Anyway, without further ado, I present my report on Tokyo. Enjoy!

Another quick update today, really short. It's gonna take awhile to put the report of my Tokyo trip together, so here's a couple pictures of some stuff I bought there to start off with. Particularly in Akihabara.

Hey guys. Just a quick update today. I haven't put in a lot of pictures with descriptions recently, so here I'm gonna show some of the nerdy anime related stuff I've been buying in the past couple weeks.

I can definitely tell that my time here in Japan is almost at an end, because just last week we had a Pre-Departure Orientation. Basically telling us what plans we had to cancel, forms we had to fill out, how to check out of our residence, stuff like that. So this is it, gang......three and a half weeks and I'll be coming back home. I'm really excited, but also a little sad too. Just in the past month I've finally begun connecting better with some of the other international students, and I'll miss them. But my desire to be able to sleep in my own bed at home greatly outweighs that.

Again, just what the title says; except it's about me. I keep meaning to do more updates, but I keep getting lazy. Also, I've just downloaded Team Fortress 2 to my computer so that's really distracting me. (Not to mention the Pyro Update that came out just the other day) And then my brother goes and tells me that I need to download Spore! Man, if I get TWO new games on here I'll never get work done. It's hard enough trying to finish up the presentation I'm doing on Monday....

So, hello guys. We're getting close to about......five weeks left, I think. It's amazing how much time has passed and how fast. This week I'll be talking about a few things that are honestly a bit old because they take place like two weeks ago. They were things that I knew I would do an update about but, as I said, I got distracted. I think in the future I'm not gonna make promises like, "I'll do updates every week," because look at how good a job I'm doing at that.

Just what the title says. And my one of my teachers said that apparently it's been predicted that it's going to be a long one this year.

Anyway, hello everyone. Welcome to the halfway point of my trip in Japan. Sorry that I've been so long without updating - from now on I'd say don't get your hopes up for me to do an update every week, because I probably won't. I'll try to get at least two in for each of these last two months.

Welcome, everyone, to a special one-day trip edition of my stay in Japan. I’m sorry for updating later than usual – it’s been getting harder to motivate myself to do these updates. I will continue with updates in the future still, but don’t expect any strict deadlines for when I will be making the updates. Anyway, this week I will be describing my trip to Kyoto last Sunday. Pictures will be handled a bit differently this time. Since linking every picture I took in Kyoto to this separately would be extremely tedious (after going through and throwing out some, it came to around 70 pictures), I will provide a link to a sub-album in my Photobucket containing all of my Kyoto images in order, each with short descriptions. I will give the link after my typed description, because the photo descriptions need some backing from what is written here.

Hey everyone. Well, I've gotten through one month. Let's see if I can survive three more. Anyway, obviously I'm updating at a different time than usual; since I couldn't update on Sunday like normal because I was, as last week's summary will explain, out of town. For last week I'll skip the last Sunday because the only thing I did of mention was laundry, which isn't that interesting.

Greetings everyone, as I come up to the second half of my first month here in Nagoya. I'll try to make this entry long enough to merit reading, but it's going to be tough for now because my weeks are starting to move in a routine. Also, it's getting harder to remember the specifics of everything I did every day of the week. I might in the future try writing out my summary of each day on that specific day in advance. But I know nothing of merit happened on Sunday, so I'll go right to Monday.

Welcome everyone to my update, week two. As I said last week, from now on my updates will probably be shorter, except during a week that I end up going out to some big locale, but that probably won't be for a good while. The amount of pictures may be less as well, but I've got a few more this week because of what I did on Sunday.

The title of this entry is from a joke from Sunday actually, the day I'm typing this; but it didn't make much sense, so I won't be explaining it.

So, I'm here now, in Nagoya, Japan! And as I promised, I am beginning my weekly updates. I may not update EVERY single week, but I will try my best to do so. It's just that this kind of thing takes a long time to type and I don't have a lot of patience for that, y'know? But I will do my best to keep everyone informed of my time in Nagoya, Japan. I'll start from Monday and explain through to Saturday. This update will probably be fairly longer than my future updates as well, but please enjoy if you want.

Hello all. Well, I'm in Japan now. Specifically in the International Residence Housing on the Higashiyama campus at Nagoya University. This is only a small update for my very first one, since I'm a little tired and I want to check stuff online, since I'm only just getting on and at the moment I have limited internet time.

So, I guess.......I dunno, I'll have a better update on things later on in the week. Right now all I know for certain is that I'm tired.

お早う、みんなさん、お元気ですか。 Boy, I need to update my life to my lj-buddies more often.

But yes, I am to be going to Japan. For awhile now I've been working through an application for a study abroad session to Nagoya University in (surprise) Nagoya, Japan. It's been a grueling past year preparing, but I've done just about everything. I've got a passport, I've got my Visa, I've gotten a scholarship ($5,800 US dollars; paying for pretty much the whole session, woot~!), I've got material info on Japan to brush up on before I go, my Japanese language studies to review before I go, my flight has been booked both ways, and now I pretty much am just having to sit around and play Super Smash Bros. Brawl relax, work, and make prep. I'm gonna be heading out on the 6th of April and will be returning on the 6th of August. I'm really really excited about the whole thing~ :3 本当に楽しみますよ!

Also, I finally got a good digital camera. Actually, my mom was orginally buying it for herself and was gonna give me her old one, but she decided it was fine to give me the new one. (for once) So for once I'll be able to show you guys pictures of stuff - and I'm sure I'll be taking tons of them in Nagoya/Tokyo/Kyoto wherever else I go over there. There's not a whole lot of sightseeing in Nagoya, but it's near Tokyo and Kyoto AND Mt. Fuji, so it's a good port to other interesting locations. I think I'll find some good places to go for sure.

まあ、今ならそんなままでことだ。質問がある? (Well, that's how it is for now. Any questions?) :)

One little compliment can make you feel amazing. So give me a compliment, anything in the entire world, even that my shoelaces are pretty. Put this in your journal. And once you get some comments, put that entry in a memory or tag and when you are feeling down, just go to that entry and this will remind how great you are.

Because it's been awhile since I did a meme, that's why.

Apparently Not Enough Upgrade [

[ mood | annoyed ]

Geez, all of my recent entries seem to be about the Nintendo Wii somehow. Weird.

My HDTV is providing frustrations, and its all Nintendo's fault. I don't get how in this age, XBOX 360 can look great in HD, PS3 can look great in HD, but the Wii can't. Not only does the Wii only go up 480p when it comes to upscaling (in comparison to PS3 which supports all the way up to 1080p), but apparently the Wii does not use anti-aliasing at all, which results in Wii games having smaller problems more noticeable and nearly all edges to be jagged, when played on an HD player. I was playing Twilight Princess earlier, which is already a Gamecube port so I knew it wouldn't look great in HD, but the jaggies, color bleeding and half-assed multiple-level-shading I saw was embarassing. Not horrendous, but embarassing when you compare to XBOX and Playstation. I think I'm finally beginning to realize that one does not buy the Wii for graphics. If you want graphics, get a PS3. I saw my friend's PS3 hooked up to my HD last night and it looked amazing. Just stunning.

There is rumor that Wii may release an HD-compatible Wii in the future, though. All I'm thinking is that they'd better provide a service where you can turn in your old Wii to get it upgraded if they do make this, 'cause I'll be damned to have to stand in line for hours again to get ANOTHER Wii just to make it look good on my HDTV.

And that ends my technical elitist jargon rant. Thank you.

My family is finally the owner of an HDTV. I am quite pleased.

Don't have the HD Box yet though, so the channels still look pretty crappy. But I got component cables for the Wii and the games look a LOT better. Well, mainly detail on still-shots look a lot better. Unfortunately, the Wii is not truely made to run in HD quality, only in ED (Enhanced Definition, which I call "HHD - Half-High Definition"), so it doesn't look phenomenally better. Can't wait to see how a PS3 or XBox looks on it, though.

Anyway, I'm happy. And I've got an interview at Harris Teeter tomorrow, so good stuff is happening.

It's-a Me, Gamestop [

[ mood | blank ]

For those of you on my friends' list who pre-ordered Super Mario Galaxy from Gamestop like I did, this may have happened to you as well.

Just this evening, about an hour ago, I got the obligatory call from Gamestop telling me that my game was in and ready to be picked up tomorrow. But is it a regular Gamestop knobgoblin employee that is making the call? No.

It's a pre-recorded message from Mario. Yes, THE Mario, telling me that he's, "so-a happy that you bought-a my new game, Super Mario Galaxy! Woo-hoo~~~!!" and that he, "can't-a wait for you-a to see me in my-a bumblebee suit~!"

From this experience, I've learned two things. One - as much as I love Charles Martinet and the voice of Mario, he should never be allowed to speak an ENTIRE conversation as Mario. And two - being spoken to by Mario over the telephone apparently throws me into a fit of giggles that I cannot get out of for a half-hour. And honestly, it made me even more excited for the game - which my brother will pick up tomorrow, but I will not actually have time to play until the weekend, grr. Also, I'm glad that this call was made to my house tonight and not last night, because otherwise my dad would've answered it and he'd have been SO damn confused. XD

So yeah, there's a random post for the evening.
